Accented letters for names in any Latin-script language
José, Zoë, Søren, Łucja, François, Müller, Ñandú: every alphabet on this page also stitches accented letters, so names in French, Spanish, Portuguese, German, the Nordic languages, Polish, Czech, Hungarian, Romanian, Turkish and more come out right. Marks are drawn as whole stitches one row above the letter, so they never touch it. Accents on capitals add up to 4 rows above the line, and only when a line actually uses them. Below: 116 letters in Hearth Block; Sprig Mini and Ribbon Rounded have the same set (Ribbon Rounded draws marks twice as large).

Not yet supported: non-Latin scripts (Cyrillic, Greek, Arabic, Hebrew, CJK) and emoji. The text generator always tells you which characters it can’t stitch instead of dropping them.

Frequently asked questions
How big will cross stitch letters be?
Divide the letter height in stitches by your fabric count. Hearth Block capitals are 7 stitches tall, so 0.5 in on 14-count and 0.39 in on 18-count. Ribbon Rounded is 14 stitches (1 in on 14-count).
What is the difference between a cross stitch alphabet and a font?
A computer font describes smooth outlines; a stitch alphabet is a grid of whole stitches. Shrinking a font onto a grid produces broken strokes, so every alphabet here is drawn stitch by stitch.
Can I print these alphabets?
Yes. Open any alphabet in the text generator, type the letters you need (or the whole alphabet), open it in the Studio and export a PDF.
Do the alphabets include accented letters?
Yes. All three include accented Latin letters such as é, ü, ñ, ç, å, ø, ß, ł, ő and ş, plus ¡ and ¿, so names in most European languages stitch correctly. Accent marks sit one empty row above the letter.
Do lowercase letters have descenders?
In Hearth Block and Ribbon Rounded, yes: g, j, p, q and y drop below the baseline. Sprig Mini has no separate lowercase; it shows lowercase as small capitals so tiny text stays readable.
