Colours and thread data
Chart colours start as RGB values derived from your image or chosen by you, with descriptive names generated by the site. Perceptual colour distances use the OKLab colour space described by Björn Ottosson.
DMC floss suggestions use the reference colours of all 489 DMC six-strand colours from craft-color-codes by MakeBead (repository), licensed CC BY 4.0. We converted it to a compact table without changing the values; retrieved and checked 2026-10-08. The upstream dataset credits floss.maxxmint.com, the adrianj/CrossStitchCreator table and xstitchify.com as its sources.
DMC is a trademark of its owner. This site is not affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by DMC. Codes are shown only so you can buy thread; reference colours are screen approximations of dyed floss, and a “nearest” match is a suggestion, not a guarantee.
